World Energy and Development Society (WEDS) is a not-for-profit organisation working at the intersection of energy transition, climate change, and development globally. We support and implement programs that strengthen public understanding of sustainability challenges and enable more inclusive, informed engagement on climate and energy issues.
Global energy transition is often discussed in technical or policy-heavy terms—carbon targets, capacity additions, financial flows. However, the lived implications of these transitions are deeply social, affecting livelihoods, health, gender equity, migration, and local governance. WEDS was established to ensure that these dimensions are meaningfully reflected in how climate and energy issues are communicated, understood, and addressed.
Understanding climate risks through people and policy
Advancing growth that is inclusive, resilient, and future-ready
Shaping energy pathways that work for economies and communities
Supporting and creating livelihoods through economic transitions
The people shaping our work through lived experience, research, and collaboration
